Dune, A Comparison of the Movie and the Book

Dune 2021                                                        by: Jonathan Chen The 2021 Dune movie is a total of 2 hours and 35 minutes long, and in that time, it gets through only half of the first book. That's kind of sad. I don't even remember what was happening most of the time. What the Movie Did Well On The 2 major aspects I think the movie did fantastic on are the visuals and sound design. The world was immersive and there was always something that was interesting on scene to entertain the audience. I remember that the shield sound effects were a unique vibrating sound that I couldn't pinpoint how they made it. I tried searching up how they did that, but nothing came up which makes me sad. The scenes of the desert were beautiful in a way that you knew something ominous was there, and there are!  Ornithopter Overall, the visual...

Illuminae By Sahnan Haber   Summary Iluminae is a sci-fi novel set far in the future when humanity has branched out to living on many different planets all across the universe and is capable of travel through wormholes. The book starts on the icy planet of Kerenza where Kady Grant and Ezra Mason, a couple who just broke up, are sitting in class. Written by: Adrian Tso When I first picked up the book, I was wondering if I would like the book or not. As I started reading the first couple of pages, it immediately starts off with the protagonist named Abby living in California where they have many people that have mysterious powers that they use for good. Abby has a good eye at looking for key details about the supers to figure out their secret identity. This is because her older brother was chosen to have these special powers, hence his superhero name is “Red Comet”. As she lives with her brother, she isn’t that obsessed with supers compared to everyone in California. Her best friend Summer is described to be the biggest superfan of Red Comet when there is an assembly at their school with Red Comet. We get to find out that Summer doesn’t like Abby’s brother because of a time in the past where he accidentally burped right in Summer’s face.  After reading a couple chapters, I would say that it is a very enjoyable book to read i...
