Dune Messiah and Children of Dune were mediocre

Image
Spoiler warning I will be honest; I was disappointed by Dune Messiah and Children of Dune. I understand why the second book, Dune Messiah, wasn't as good because it was leading up to the "finale" of the series. The second book was essentially 200 pages worth of fluff were almost nothing happened. There was all this lead up of covert people meeting behind emperor Paul's back, but what happens? A bomb goes off that burns through his eye tissue. They had all of the buildup through secretive meetings and there is no satisfactory conclusion. We know something is going to happen, but through all their planning it leads the reader to believe that they will do a religious uprising or some subtle political maneuver. Instead, they set of...

Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment

Image
Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment Sahnan Haber In the fantasy/sci-fi novel, Maximum Ride, the main characters are a family of kids who are the product of government genetic experiments and are 98% human, 2% bird. The book starts when the 6 have already escaped the lab they were born in and tested in for the first several years of their life. Shortly after the book starts, people from the lab find their house, and come to kidnap them so they can continue their testing. The scientists manage to take one of them, forcing them all to have to leave their home forever and rescue her. From this point on the six are being chased by the government, learning about their abilities and their origins, and facing troubles such as being in the unfamiliar human world, or having their bodies reject the modifications made by the scientists. Although, in my opinion the start of the book is a bit slow, Maximum ride gets to be a thrilling and very entertaining read. It has likable characters, interesting ...

Review of Heartstopper

Heartstopper is a book about two teens named Nick and Charlie. The book starts off with Nick being friendly every day to Charlie who is suspicious of Nick and wondering why he is being so friendly to him. Tao Xu, Charlie's other friend, talks about why Charlie was friends with Nick who was a part of a rugby team. Tao says to Charlie that he is gay, which leaves Charlie in confusion. Ben (who was Charlie's lover before he started assaulting him) comes up to Charlie at school and starts harassing him and interrogating why he hasn't answered any of his texts for the past two weeks. Nick comes up and "saves" Charlie from Ben.     After that incident, Nick invites Charlie to his rugby team, which develops Charlie's feelings for Nick. Charlie happens to run into Ben again, this time Ben forces Charlie to kiss him. Nick saves Charlie once again but this time, Nick starts to develop feelings for Charlie. At night, Nick texts Charlie asking if he is alright. They...

Review of Death Note

Image
By Jonah Stamps     Summary     Death Note is a very good book series. It is about a high school boy named Light Yagami, who is extremely smart. He is tired of his boring life, but one day he finds a note book. This note book is very special, it is a death note, which means that you can write anyone's name in it and they die. At first, Light uses his new found powers for the good of the world, but soon the police start investigating and Light slowly is forced into insanity. He kills all the police officers that are investigating him. I haven't read past this point yet so I don't want to give you any wrong info about the show Review      My honest opinion on this book is that it is very good so far. As I said, I haven't gotten very far into the book series. I love the how the book shows the change in Lights view on what he should be doing, he went from only killing horrible criminals, to killing innocent people. This book shows that power can eas...
