Comparing the Demon Slayer Manga to the Anime: By Jonah Stamps
Intro
Demon Slayer has been an extremely popular series for many years, both the manga and anime have grossed millions of dollars. Recently, more and more manga of the manga is being adapted to anime, and I thought comparing the two would be fun. This blog will show both the good and bad parts of both sides and also show what unique things both have.
If you don't know, Demon Slayer is both a manga and an anime about a boy named Tanjirou living in a world where man-eating demons live. His sister is turned into a demon herself and the boy joins the Demon Slayer Corps, who are the ones who fight and kill Demons, so he can possibly find a cure and turn his sister back into a human again. I highly recommend this series, either the Manga or Anime.
Comparison
First, I would like to talk about the anime, as it is the most popular, and how I discovered this series. The anime has become extremely popular over the years. There are many reasons why it has become extremely popular, one of them being that it has some amazing animations, one of which you see above. The show is actually known to have some of if not the best animations of any anime there is. It is so detailed that it is said it takes about $80,000 USD to make one episode. Another amazing thing about this series is the amazing voice acting by the voice actors. The acting is amazing and it really makes you feel as if it were real. One bad thing though is that it takes quite a while for the anime to be adapted into many different languages instead of Japanese because it is made in Japan. This stops many people from experiencing the amazing voice acting and animation that the show has, unlike the manga which has been adapted to almost all major languages in the world.
Now I will talk about the manga. The Demon Slayer manga, like the anime, has some amazing graphics. It does an amazing job of showing the intricate art of the fighting techniques shown. There are many amazing graphics in the manga and the picture above comes straight out of the manga itself. This is really one of the reasons why the manga got adapted in the first place. Another good thing about the manga is that it is finished. The anime, even though it is on its 3rd season now, is only about halfway done, while the manga has already concluded. This is good as the reader is able to keep reading all the way until the end. Even though the manga is very good, it still has its flaws, one being that even though the graphics are amazing, it is still a picture. When reading, it is difficult to imagine everything moving and changing like how it does in the anime. It is still amazing, but reading the end of the manga is difficult as so many things happen at the same time it is hard to read. Overall though, both the manga and anime are amazing, and I highly recommend reading/watching them.
I agree Jonah, I could never really appreciate the fight/complex scenes in manga (even in anime sometimes they're too elaborate to follow). It feels like the manga is brought to life by the anime. Great review!
ReplyDeleteHey Jonah, I totally agree with your opinion, the anime has some aspects that are different in the manga, such as the character expressions. Although, in the anime it's very lively and the choreography of the fights are very well made.
ReplyDeleteHey Jonah! This is a great review! I agree with what you say and like the detail you go into.
